Wilpons need to Sell Mets:

Bernie Madoff played each one of his victims and the Wilpon
family were caught up in the entire scheme and New York Mets fans continue
to suffer. They watched the team overspend for Luis Castillo and Oliver
Perez. Mets stars Carlos Beltran and Jose Reyes battle tough injuries while
prospects don’t develop. Madoff victims are suing the team for some of the
money lost during the scheme.
The Mets pursuit of free agents suffered because the Wilpons don’t want to
pay the victims. New manager Terry Collins has made some on field decisions
that will appease Mets fans. The Wilpons are willing to sell a 25 percent
stake in the team, but the high profile guys want full control. Donald Trump
already stated he wants complete control, while Dallas Mavericks owner Mark
Cuban won’t pursue the purchase without complete control either.
They jettisoned Castillo and Perez, eat their contracts for this season and
Mets fans are very much happier because both guys couldn’t produce in recent
seasons. Daniel Murphy holds the edge for the second baseman position. It’s
also a youth movement in Flushing. Ike Davis will have another season to
mature and become a feared hitter. Josh Thole will most likely be the
everyday catcher, learn the rotation and how to call games at the big league
level. Johan Santana won’t be back before July, and it’s unclear what his
impact will be. The Wilpons must sell the team.
