US Men Ready to Take on Ghana:

The U.S. Men's Soccer team faces Ghana in the round of 16
today at the 2010 World Cup. Most fans know that Landon Donovan scored in
the 92 minute against Algeria to advance and win their group. Now, the test
of playing a determined Ghanan side playing on their home continent for the
first time.
Donovan will continue to act as the spark plug for the U.S. team. Michael
Bradley must continue to help control the central back against a potent
attack. Jozy Altidore hasn't scored a goal yet, but he's made a tremendous
impact on the tournament so far. His run from midfield set up Donovan's
goal.
Altidore's learned a lot since being rented out to Hull City of the English
Premier League. It's the top level of competition and at only 20 years old,
Altidore knows a lot of the tricks used against his large frame. He makes
tremendous runs with great grace, but also has to fight for every inch
during corner kicks and free kicks. He's a big body in the mold of Brian
McBride. He free up space for Donovan and Clint Dempsey to attack on goal.
He hasn't shown up in the stat sheet, but Altidore's definitely helped the
U.S. get this far. Ghana is somewhat of an unknown team and the potential
the U.S. team has is limitless when they're playing well. Last year's
Confederation Cup helped build hype for this World Cup, now the men must
deliver on some great dreams and make soccer talked about more than just
once every four years.
