Syracuse Losses Show Big East Is Still The Best:

The Syracuse Orange are going through a slump. The team,
lead by head coach Jim Boeheim has lost three games in a row. The most
recent loss, Seton Hall exercised its demons inside the Carrier Dome with a
90-68 win. The Orange started the season 18-0, on their way to a number one
ranking. The last three games haven’t been a complete disaster. They’ve lost
to two quality teams in Pittsburgh and Villanova. Seton Hall only lost to
Syracuse by five points in their first meeting.
The Orange struggles just show how the Big East is the premier college
basketball conference. Connecticut guard Kemba Walker is the argument for
both Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year. Pitt tops the Big East
standings with a 7-1 conference record. Jaime Dixon is a top coach and the
Panthers have some tough games coming up, with two games against Villanova
remaining on their schedule.
The additional teams added to the NCAA tournament means the Big East is
going to get another team in the tournament. Most of the top half of the
conference is strong and has impressive wins in non-conference play. It’s
only about the half way point for conference play, but Big East teams do a
pretty good job of beating each other up. It makes for a better tournament
performance by the conference as a whole.
