Stern Provides Insight Into NBA Dealings:

David Stern give solid interviews. When he speaks, most NBA
needs to listen about what he’s thinking for the long term success of the
league. He recently gave a quality interview, hinting at the possibility of
NBA players choosing to play in Europe if there’s another work stoppage
after June 30, when their collective bargaining agreement ends. Stern isn’t
going to stop marquee players like Kobe Bryant and Dirk Nowitzki from
playing abroad.
He also touched on the NBA’s decision to buy the New Orleans Hornets from
long time principle owner George Shinn. He stated it was something that the
other leagues did, with success so the NBA decided to try it for the first
time in league history. The league doesn’t want to move the team from New
Orleans, but they have many options, including moving the team to cities
that have capable facilities, like Pittsburgh and Kansas City.
It’s a lot to process for one of the most admired sports commissioners. He’s
been at the head of the NBA since 1984, expanding from 23 to 30 teams, and
through the most profitable period in history. He’s going to prevent a work
stoppage like the 1999 lockout. The league is growing in television ratings
and fans are flocking to the arenas more than in recent seasons. Stern has a
lot to worry about as commissioner. He’s also going to learn from the NFL’s
handling of labor negotiations. They’ll find an owner that will keep the
Hornets in New Orleans, they’ll also look at possibly returning a team to
Seattle.
