Robinson Makes All the Difference In Win over Notre Dame:

Denard Robinson is simply spectacular. He’s had the most
impressive debut as a starting quarterback in college football since guys
named Tebow and McCoy. Robinson’s a lot more fun to watch than those guys.
He scored a touchdown with 27 seconds remaining to defeat Notre Dame 28-24
on Saturday. Robinson accounted for 502 total yards on offense. That’s not a
typo, he ran for 258 yards, including a 87 yard touchdown in the second
quarter. He also threw for 244 yards and a TD. The Notre Dame defense held
Robinson after the touchdown. The team was able to come back down from a
21-7 hole, going up 24-21 after a 95-yard pass from Dayne Crist to Kyle
Rudolph.
Crist missed most of the first half of the game. It showed as Brian Kelly
found it hard to trust Crist’s replacements. Nate Montana and Tommy Rees
each threw an interception. Rees had two unsuccessful drives before being
lifted for Montana. Montana, son of the Fighting Irish great Joe Montana,
couldn’t get anything started offensively and the team quickly turned to
Crist in the second half.
The story is Robinson. He’s had two of the most impressive games, breaking
Michigan rushing records and total offense numbers in both games. He runs
the triple option spread offense better than Pat White did with Rich
Rodriguez at West Virginia.
Robinson should help Michigan stay in contention all year in the Big Ten. If
he continues to put up numbers like the first two games, it might set up the
best Michigan/Ohio State clash in years, with BCS bowl implications hanging
in the balance.
The Fighting Irish seem to be in good hands, the offense was working well
with Crist behind center, but they have no depth behind Crist. They’re going
to win a lot of close games after learning from this week. Both teams are on
the right track, Robinson made all the difference this week.
