There’s old adages, many reflecting that it’s important to
return to where it all began. It’s the place of great memories for people.
For Randy Moss, it’s a chance to return to the Super Bowl after a rocky
start to the season with the New England Patriots. They shipped Moss to the
Minnesota Vikings. He spent the first seven years of his career with the
Vikings. This time around, he has an elite quarterback throwing to him.
One of the reasons the Vikings have been slow to start the season is because
Favre hasn’t developed a great relationship with any of the current players
on the roster. Moss provides an instant deep threat for the Vikings offense.
Percy Harvin moves to the slot receiver on three receiver sets. Adrian
Peterson will see his rushing average go up because the safeties won’t be
able to cheat up to stop the run.
The Vikings have an important, tough stretch of games starting with a trip
to the New Meadowlands Stadium to take on the New York Jets. In week six,
the team hosts the Dallas Cowboys followed by a trip to Lambeau Field to
face the Green Bay Packers. It doesn’t get any easier as the next week, Moss
returns to Gillette Stadium to take on the Pats. It’s going to be the most
important five games of the season for the Vikings.
Moss left the Patriots on a sour note. He wants a long term contract and
didnt’ get an offer from the Patriots. He will be an unrestricted free agent
at the end of the year. The Vikings know they have time to negotiate a long
term deal with Moss. They will also evaluate his play during his second
stint with the Vikings. Now, they’re glad to have the impact player that
will improve the offense, all the way to the Super Bowl. Moss can get them
there.
