Prokhorov Brings Excitement During Meet and Greet:

Mikhail Prokhorov, the new majority owner of the New Jersey
Nets hinted a lot of things during his introduction on Wednesday. He hinted
that he expects the Nets to win the championship in five years. Prokhorov is
excited for the arena to be built in Brooklyn in the next few years. He's
also interested in the free agent period that starts on July 1. He stated he
will return to the U.S. right before July 1.
He was very honest in some ways. He told the media that he'd hope to get a
coach by December, but that didn't happen. He also wants some one that's had
previous NBA coaching experience, whether it be as a head coach or assistant
coach. It means that he won't break the bank for a top tier college coach.
It's a great move, most college coaches don't make the transition between
NBA and college very well.
The new owner also hinted that a name change could be in the works. It would
coincide with the move to Brooklyn. The Nets need to get out of the
Meadowlands. It's a good start by moving to the Prudential Center in
Harrison, NJ. It's a start, but to get fans to games, they need to be in
Brooklyn. It's a highly populated borough with a solid rail system to get
fans to games. Prokhorov ha a very interesting past but he's also listed as
the 29th richest man in the world according to Forbes. He should bring
excitement back to the New Jersey Nets and it should be interesting to see
if they can take any of the thunder from the New York Knicks.
