QB Contrast Provides Eagles With Great Problem

There are many different story lines in the NFL
this season. One of the most intriguing continues to be the
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback situation. Earlier this season, head
coach Andy Reid chose to start rehabbed Michael Vick after Kevin
Kolb suffered a concussion against the Green Bay Packers. The
offenses are completely different under both starters. Vick provides
a dynamic dual threat that’s learning to throw first and then run if
necessary. Kolb is a much more pocket QB with a great throwing arm
and better decision making. It makes the switch give fits to
opposing defense.
Vick won a pair of games early in the season spelling Kolb. Vick has
also missed the last two weeks with a rib cartilage injury. Kolb has
won back-to-back games as a starter while Vick missed the games.
Reid is in a great position because the two QBs are so different.
When Vick is healthy, the defense will have to design two different
game plans when playing the Eagles. Kolb has the hot hand right now.
Reid’s been known to go with the player that’s performing well. It
would be a better idea to bring in Vick as a change of pace during
the game.
The Eagles are in a great position. They have two proven starting
quarterbacks. It’s a great problem to have. Kolb should start. He
came into the season prepared to be the starter. Reid chose to go
with Vick after his success earlier this year. According to reports,
Vick is going to miss at least one more week of football. He’s going
to return after the bye week, which is after the this weekend’s
game. The Eagles are tied with the New York Giants for first in the
NFC East. The Eagles are going to win games as long as defenses have
to plan for two different QBs. It’s a luxury that’s going to equal
wins and a trip to the playoffs for Philadelphia.
