College Basketball Final Four Showdown:

Sixty teams have been eliminated and now Michigan State,
Butler, Duke and West Virginia will compete for the NCAA National
Championship. It's no surprise to see Michigan State in the Final Four.
The surprise is that the Spartans made it without their best player, Kailan
Lucas since the opening game of the tournament. Expect the Spartans to get a
challenge from Butler. The Bulldogs are basically playing a home game and
they have some quality players. It should be a great game. Gordon Hayward
and Shelvin Mack are NBA-quality players playing for the Bulldogs. It's also
important to understand that Butler is playing a home game too. The campus
is located right in Indianapolis. It should be an extremely hostile crowd if
Bulldog fans are able to gobble up the tickets that were purchased by other
programs' fans. Hayward, averaged 15.5 points this season and is looking
more and more like a first round draft pick in the June.
Theo there great story line from this game is Izzo's ability to coach. He
consistently takes his teams deep into March Madness. Last year, he took to
a home game in Detroit during last season's Final Four. He's been to six
Final Fours in 12 seasons, let that sink it. It's ridiculous how he's always
able to get his teams to the tournament. No upperclassman has missed a Final
Four berth under Izzo. Most of the 300 plus programs would kill to get to
one Sweet 16, he gets six FF appearances in 12 years. He should probably ask
for more money when his contract's up.
Coach K and the Blue Devils are back in the Final Four after a dry spell of
a few seasons. People don't like Duke because they're always on television
and because of the scandal from a few years ago. Don't hate success and
elitism. It takes effort to stay at Duke. Most players would rather spend
their one year on the hardcourt instead of the classroom. Duke recruits
usually spend a few years in Durham playing for arguably one of the best
basketball teachers in the country. Duke is a great academic institution and
that's probably a reason they haven't been to a Final Four in a couple of
seasons. Hard working students in the classroom usually breed quality
players on the court. Kentucky's inexperience and poor shooting are the
reason they didn't make it. Duke players work just as hard on the hardwood,
and even more so in the classroom.
West Virginia and Bob Huggins return to the Final Four after a long absence.
Huggins is a great coach that can get his players to perform above average.
Da'Sean Butler scoring a torrid pace also helps the Mountaineers win games
too. Knock Huggins for all his transgressions in the past, the guy can get
his teams to play well and lead them deep into the tournament. It's really
expected that the team that wins the Big East Tournament can go far in the
tournament, the Mountaineers confirmed that thought.
It should be quality national semifinals games on Saturday and great
National Championship between two complete teams with great coaches. It
hasn't been the greatest season for stars in college basketball, but it's
been one of the better tournaments for that reason alone.
