NBA Rookie of the Year:

Author: Michael Licata
Date: 04/30/2010

Sacramento Kings Tyreke Evans won the NBA Rookie of the Year, it was announced on April 30. He played well for a bad team and it gives promise to Kings fans that the team will be able to rebuild around Evans for the long term. Scott Brooks won the NBA Coach of the Year. The award was well earned as he got the Oklahoma City Thunder into the playoffs for the first time.

It's expected that LeBron James will be named the Most Valuable Player and Dwight Howard earned Defensive Player of the Year for this past season. They're all well earned. It's the familiar story in the playoffs. The Dallas Mavericks were eliminated by the San Antonio Spurs. It means that Tim Duncan and company have one more deep playoff run in them. How far they make it probably depends on how well the Los Angeles Lakers play against the Spurs. The match up favors the Lakers because of their length and athleticism. The Spurs still play a slowed down style that keeps the Lakers more healthy than the athletic Thunder. This won't happen until the Conference Finals, as the Spurs will face the Suns in the second round.

It should be a great series. In the Eastern Conference, LeBron James states that he shouldn't miss any games because of his injured elbow. James should get over the minor injury and continue to plow through the Eastern Conference. The second round of the playoffs should be better than the first as the hottest teams continue to play well, making for great television.
