Meeting of the Minds Could Shake Up NBA:

Joe Johnson, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh will
meet on how to go forward this summer. The quartet are part of the most
coveted free agent class ever. It's an amazing experiment. They're putting
the future of the entire league into their hands. Where they choose to go
will affect the rest of the free agents, plus the immediate future of the
league. That's unheard of. It showcases just how much of a superstar driven
league the NBA.
The foursome will discuss the length of the contracts they're willing to
sign. Bosh, Wade and James all played along side each other during the 2008
off season, winning the Gold Medal at the Beijing Olympics. It's realistic
that two of the four could play together for an entire 82 game schedule.
There seems to be a couple of landing spots. James is the most wanted.
Chicago and Cleveland look like the places where he will go to play. Chicago
has a great young team and James and Derrick Rose could do some serious
damage. There's also the pursuit of Michael Jordan's legacy.
Cleveland seems like the likeliest place for James to end up. He spent seven
years resurrecting that team. The Cavaliers can also offer him the most
money. It's not about the money for James, he wants that title and the Bulls
seem more ready to provide it. Wade would be foolish to leave Miami. He has
one title and could possibly convince Amare Stoudimire to come to South
Beach, the front court could include Stoudimire and Michael Beasley. Bosh
will leave Toronto. It's a great place to play, but they've never been an
elite NBA team. It should be interesting to see if Johnson follows one or
two of the other guys, takes a pay cut in order to win a championship.
The meeting hasn't been scheduled and no one really knows where it's going
to happen. The decisions that come out of the meeting will have
repercussions for the entire league.
