NBA Free Agency Starts: Entire World Awaits King James' Decision:

Author: Michael Licata

At the stroke of midnight, the largest courting in sports history will start. Where will LeBron James Go? Will he choose to return to Cleveland, with a team what will probably be coached by Brian Shaw, a former Lakers assistant. Will he follow his idol, join a good friend Chris Bosh and chase the shadow of Michael Jordan in Chicago. Will he go to the biggest stage in the world and join the New York Knicks on Broadway next season? Will he, Bosh and Dwyane Wade join together, take smaller salaries for the sake of winning the next few championships in say, New Jersey or Chicago?

Once James does eventually sign, the rest of the free agents, including Bosh and Wade will sign with teams. A few other interesting free agents are Amare Stoudimire, Dirk Nowitzki, Joe Johnston, David Lee and Rudy Gay. Stoudimire's long been infatuated with the idea of playing in South Beach and Miami has room for another contract to play along with Wade. Wade will resign with Miami, Pat Riley is the real deal as a general manager and can figure out a way to get great talent around Wade for another title run. Johnston is the plan B for most teams that lose out on James/Bosh package. He's a quality player, but not of James/Bosh caliber. He'll likely end up in the New York market, with the Knicks or the New Jersey Nets.

There's no way Dirk is leaving Dallas. He's too important to the franchise to leave, he'll just get a better contract from Mark Cuban. Lee is the most interesting second tier player. He could really help a team go from good to great, as long as he's not the first or second option on offense. His defensive prowess makes him attractive to many teams that can add quality players. How much extra money could he possibly get from the Knicks if they lose out on James? I'm guessing a lot. Gay is another second tier impact player that can positively impact a team, but he's not the answer.

James will choose fairly soon because the entire world is waiting for his decision. Chicago has the best talent to win next year with Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah. Bosh coming over could put that team over the top and really give the franchise its seventh championship. James would be on his way to getting level with Wade, chasing Kobe Bryant as the best player in the league, not just the best brand.
