NBA basketball Breakdown:

It looks like the Los Angeles Lakers will have a tougher
road towards the NBA Finals this season. They thought heading into the
season that they would win 70 games. Granted, they're a quality team that's
led by a NBA great in Kobe Bryant, they're beatable and could suffer a let
down in the later rounds of the playoffs. They'll face either the San
Antonio Spurs or Portland Trailblazers in the first round. It could be an
upset in the first round if Tim Duncan and Tony Parker can capture some of
that old magic and defeat the Lakers.
If the Lakers play Portland, expect a quick series because it'll be a first
time in the playoffs for a lot of the Trailblazers players and it might be a
little scary to play in the Staples Center during play off time. The most
intriguing matchup in the first round would be the Denver Nuggets against
the Oklahoma Thunder. It's the first playoff venture for the Thunder since
moving to Oklahoma City. Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook could make some
waves by upsetting a few teams along the way toward a deep playoff run.
In the Eastern Conference, it looks like a Orlando Magic/Cleveland Cavaliers
Conference Finals again. There should be some quality games before the
finals though. Look for the Atlanta Hawks to turn some heads as Josh Smith
and the Hawks should get to at least the quarters. Jamal Crawford's a great
story for the Hawks. The veteran never came close to the playoffs with any
team he's played on before this season. Most likely, he'll be the Sixth Man
of the Year and should help the Hawks make some noise during this year's NBA
playoffs.
Another team that's looking at winning a few rounds would be the Phoenix
Suns. The Suns are led by the ageless Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire. Many
analysts contend that the Suns playing style doesn't translate into a
grueling seven game series. This is somewhat true, but the system's worked
long enough, maybe it will help them get to the Conference Finals. Deron
Williams and the Utah Jazz are another team that could do well and win
games. Andrei Kirilenko and Carlos Boozer should help Williams win games. It
helps to have the tested Jerry Sloan coaching a younger team that needs to
learn to win play off series.
Expect the Cavs to make it to the Conference Finals. Many fans want to see
LeBron James get his ring for Cleveland before entering the free agent
market. He should be able to get there with the help of Shaq and Antawan
Jamison. Which team they play will kind of be a question. Is this the year
that the Nuggets break through and beat the Lakers in the Conference Finals?
It would be a great series to see Chauncey Billups and Carmelo Anthony
against the James gang for the NBA Title.
