Michigan Chooses Hoke:

The coaching carousal turns and Brady Hoke will now be the
head man at the winningest college football program, Michigan. Denard
Robinson hasn’t spoken with Hoke about staying but it would put the
Wolverines in an even bigger hole without their starting quarterback. Tate
Forcier has already left the program. He was academically ineligible for the
Gator Bowl. Hoke doesn’t have a great win-loss record, but neither did Gene
Chizik and that worked out well for Auburn. Hoke did a great job turning
around San Diego State.
Hoke didn’t graduate from Michigan and he’s not Jim Harbaugh, but he worked
under Lloyd Carr. He understands what needs to be done to return the maize
and blue back to the glory days of competing for a national championship.
Michigan even interviewed LSU coach Les Miles to gauge his interest in the
position. Miles isn’t going to leave the SEC and now he’s got a seven year
extension from the Tigers to prove he doesn’t want to leave the best
competition in college football.
Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon understood he needed some one to
restore the power and glory of Michigan. Miles is perfectly happy at LSU.
Harbaugh fell for the glitz offered by the NFL. Hoke is the right guy for
Michigan. He has a proven track record, great recruiting experience. He
knows what’s it like to be part of the great Michigan tradition. He’s not an
outsider like the man he replaced, Rich Rodriguez. Rodriguez will go down as
one of the worst hires ever. The spread offense doesn’t work well in the Big
Ten. The defenses are larger and coaches smarter in preparing against the
attack. Hoke will get the job done.
