Lee's Trade Felt Throughout Baseball:

Cliff Lee makes an impact on the pennant race in Major
League Baseball. He helped the Cleveland Indians get to the playoffs a few
years ago. He helped the Philadelphia Phillies return to the World Series
last year. He's the only pitcher to beat the Yankees in the Fall Classic.
So, when the New York Yankees were expected to pick him up, every other
baseball fan moaned that the Yankees were just getting Lee and it was
unfair. Then the Justin Smoak enticed the Mariners to trade Lee to the Texas
Rangers and not the Yankees.
The Rangers are in first place, so he's going to join the pennant race. The
Rangers are the team most in need of quality pitching. Lee will help, but
it's only a rental. Lee will be a free agent and its expected that Lee will
sign with the Yankees this off season. It should be interesting because Lee
wants to play with C.C. Sabathia again. They bonded during their years in
Cleveland and the Yankees aren't shy about spending money.
For this season, it should be interesting to see which pitcher goes next.
The Houston Astros have Roy Oswalt and were waiting to see what the Mariners
got for Lee. Oswalt has a complete no trade clause so he'll ultimately
decide where he wants to go. He wants to play for a winner and deserves it
after playing for so long in Houston. Ted Lily, the Chicago Cubs pitcher is
another rumored pitcher on the move. It's believed the New York Mets are
pushing to get Lily from the Cubs. There will be a lot more movement before
the July 31 trading deadline. Lee will have the most impact on the pennant
race. The Rangers are a serious contender with Lee now.
