Lakers Blow Out Celtics in Game One:
| Author: Michael Licata |

It begins. The Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics
resumed the best rivalry in the NBA. Pau Gasol versus Kevin Garnett was a
main theme in the 2008 Finals and it continues this season. The Lakers take
game one 102-89 in Los Angeles.
Gasol had a great first half against the Celtics. He scored 11 points and
seven boards for the Lakers. Rajon Rondo continues his superb playoffs with
10 points, four assists and four rebounds. Kobe Bryant leads all scorers
with 12 points, but that's not a shock. Every one knows Bryant wants to beat
the Celtics more than any other team. It will help validate his legacy as
one of the best players in Lakers history.
The front court for the Lakers are the story in the first half. Gasol, Ron
Artest and Andrew Bynum combined for 25 points and 12 rebounds. The Celtics
got outrebounded in the first half. The Lakers entered the fourth quarter
with a 2 0 point lead. This team is playing out of their mind. Gasol showed
up and will be the key going forward. Gasol finished the game with 23 points
and 14 rebounds. Bryant finished with 30 points. Kevin Garnett seems to be
getting old as the playoffs wear on and he doesn't look prepared to take on
Gasol for at least four games.
Garnett versus Gasol will be the key for the rest of the series. Garnett
must find the fountain of youth or this is going to be a short series. Rondo
will probably win one game by himself. The Lakers learned a lot from winning
the championship last season and it looks like they haven't forgotten the
2008 Finals. Game Two is Sunday night and it should be interesting to see
how Boston comes back from such a tough loss.
