When a player is wanted in New York, the fans do a great job of showing their appreciation. Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets came into Madison Square Garden Sunday afternoon. The red hot New York Knicks extended their winning streak to eight games with a 129-125 victor over the Nuggets. Amare Stoudemire scored 24 points in the second half to pace the Knicks in an offensive outburst from both teams. Wilson Chandler made a game breaking 3-pointer to put New York up for good with 30 seconds left in the game. It’s the first eight game winning streak for the franchise in15 years. The Knicks will try to prove themselves against the NBA’s best, playing the Boston Celtics on Wednesday and the Miami Heat on Friday.

Anthony finished with a double-double, scoring 31 points and adding 13 rebounds in a losing effort. After the game, it was revealed that Anthony won’t sign a contract extension unless he was traded to the Knicks. The Knicks fans gave Anthony a standing ovation when he was introduced during Sunday’s game. The two teams have been figuring a way to make the deal happen, including a Eddie Curry’s contract and former first round pick Danilo Galinari. The Nuggets may also be interested in rookie Landry Fields. Fields is quickly becoming a solid option behind Stoudemire and Raymond Felton.

Anthony will automatically make the Knicks among the top three teams in the Eastern Conference with the Heat and Celtics. It looks like they don’t need him during this current winning streak, but he would bring a ton of excitement about the present and the future for the once struggling franchise. Anthony will be a member of the Knicks. He’s going to sign a free agent deal after his current contract expires. The Knicks are becoming relevant again, its a good time to be a Knicks fan.
