Jets Proving Their Talk

Last season, Mark Sanchez looked like the one piece that
could keep the New York Jets from winning the Super Bowl. Their defense was
the main reason the team came within one game of playing in last year’s
Super Bowl. This season started with a ton of hype and drama. Darrelle Revis
held out for all of training camp, the improper conduct around a female
reporter in the locker room and Rex Ryan’s attitude and language used during
the HBO “Hard Knocks” documentary during the Jets training camp.
Many NFL fans felt the team was overrated and were going to fail to live up
to the hype generated by the team. So far, they’ve proven all their
detractors wrong, the team went 3-1 in the first month of the season. All
their victories came against division opponents. Sanchez is making better
decisions with the football. Dustin Kellar is his favorite target and he’s
reliable tight end option. This weekend, reinforcements arrive in the form
of Santonio Holmes, his top target. Holmes will team with Braylon Edwards to
form a great receiving tandem. LaDanian Tomlinson is showing to have some
tread left, becoming the team’s top runner. He broke a 15-game streak of
running under 100 yards last Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.
Revis ended his holdout before the start of the regular season. He missed
the last two game, both wins against the Dolphins and Bills. Kris Jenkins
was injured early on and will miss the rest of the regular season. The Jets
haven’t missed a beat losing two of their defensive leaders. They don’t rank
high in the defensive categories like last season, but the defense is making
plays at the right time to win football games.
The Jets are leading the AFC East. They played the Baltimore Ravens tough,
losing by one point in the season opener. Revis is getting healthy and
Holmes should provide a great target for Sanchez. The Jets boasted about
being one of the best teams in the league. They’re backing up their talk and
could make it to Dallas for the Super Bowl in February.
