Heat Offense Deficiencies Highlighted In Loss To Magic:

The Orlando Magic overhauled their roster earlier this
season. They added Gilbert Arenas, Jason Richardson and Hedo Turkoglu. They
have Dwight Howard, the most athletic big man in the NBA. Yet, they were
considered inferior to in-state rival Miami in the Eastern Conference. The
Heat woes against teams with .500 records or above continued against the
Magic on Thursday night. Jason Richardson led a comeback from 23 points to
down the Heat, 99-96. Richardson finished with 24 points.
Orlando went 40-9 over the final 15 minutes in the victory. Howard scored 14
points and added 18 rebounds for the Magic. The Heat’s struggles against
good teams continues and they have a tough stretch with games against San
Antonio, the Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls. Mike Bibby made his Heat
debut at the point and didn’t make much of an impact. He’s going to be
counted on to create half court offense for Miami.
Miami is going to have a tough time in the playoffs against the top teams in
the Eastern Conference. They struggle when the game slows down and teams
force them into a half court offense. They can’t seem to operate in the half
court, relying on creating turnovers and points in transition. It’s not
going to work against the tougher defensive teams like the Boston Celtics
and Magic. Bibby has only played one game with Miami, but he’s the
difference in half court offense. He can distribute the ball and make the
best passes for Dwayne Wade and LeBron James. If they don’t figure out their
offense, then it’s going to be a short playoff run.
