Four Great Programs Face Off This Saturday:

Four of the most storied college football programs are
meeting this weekend. Michigan and Notre Dame are looking to establish
themselves among the elite programs again. Joe Paterno and Penn State travel
to Tuscaloosa to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Fighting Irish are
led by Brian Kelly. Their new offense, under Dane Crist was efficient last
week in a win over Purdue.
Rich Rodriguez’s Michigan squad had a breakout game with Denard Robinson at
the helm. The defeated a solid Connecticut Huskies squad, 30-10 to open the
season. Robinson threw for 186 passing yards, to go along with 197 yards
rushing. He’s the complete package for Rodriguez’s spread offense. A mobile
QB able to make solid throws in the spread formation. Robinson is going to
be the most important piece in getting Michigan back to the top of the Big
Ten.
The other matchup pits Alabama versus Penn State. It’s two legendary
programs led by two of the greatest football coaches. Penn State and Alabama
haven’t played in 20 years. Paterno never beat Paul “Bear” Bryant, losing
four games, mostly bowl games. Paterno deflected questions regarding Bryant
this week. Bryant was the only team that defeated Paterno and the Nittany
Lions during their national championship run.
These great programs are the most storied in all of college football. This
weekend, they get to add to the great tradition of all programs. Expect
Michigan and Alabama to come out on top in the contests. Alabama is still
the top ranked team in the country. Notre Dame has a recent history of
failing in games against high powered offenses.
