Foster Brings Balance to Texans Offense

Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak benched Arian Foster
early in the game against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. Foster came in late
and sparked the Texans do a 31-24 defeat of the Raiders. He’s the league’s
leading rusher and provides much more than just ground yards. Andre Johnson
missed the game because of an injured ankle. His presence wasn’t as missed
because of the talents of Foster. He makes the Texans more than one
dimensional, which is important to win in the NFL.
Matt Schaub is becoming an elite QB, relying on tight end Joel Dreessen
against the Raiders. He threw for two scores and no interceptions. He’s
always been able to put up huge numbers throwing the ball to Johnson, but
now the team has balance. His numbers don’t need to be huge for the Texans
to win. The defense is quickly becoming a better unit. If Johnson can get
healthy, the Texans will have one of the top offenses in the NFL. They face
the New York Giants next weekend before tough games, hosting the undefeated
Kansas City Chiefs and heading to Indianapolis to face the Colts. They’ll be
looking to sweep the season series against the Colts for the first time in
franchise history.
Linebacker Brian Cushing returns from a four game suspension to start the
season on Monday. He’s going to make the unit better and the Texans will be
that more dangerous. Mario Williams has five sacks through four games this
season. When he was drafted number one overall, it was to get to the
quarterback, mainly Peyton Manning, and he’s doing what he was brought in
for, sacks.
Many preseason predictors expected the Texans to make the playoffs. The team
is going to be very hard to beat once the entire team is healthy. Johnson
should be back, somewhat limited but he’s going to put up huge numbers.
Foster will continue to rush for video game-like numbers on Sundays. The
balance on offense is going to be the key to winning football games the rest
of the year. The defense is going to shut down opposing offenses. The team
isn’t only going to make the playoffs, expect them to win the division and
host a playoff game at Reliant Stadium
