Favre Faces More Adversity Before Sunday's Game

Last year, Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings were one game away from the Super Bowl. He wanted to return so much because he thought this was the year the Vikings would make it to the Super Bowl, win and Favre would ride off into the sunset. It was a perfect movie scenario. He’s quickly learning that life isn’t like the movies. The team limped out to a 1-4 start. He’s also being investigated by the NFL for alleged lewd photos he sent to a female sideline reporter while playing for the Jets in 2008. Now is not the time to be Brett Favre.

This weekend, they host the equally desperate Dallas Cowboys team. Favre might miss the game due to soreness in his throwing elbow. He missed practice on Wednesday. It puts his amazing 286-consecutive game streak at risk. Favre faced adversity before, playing after the death of his father, his wife being diagnosed with breast cancer. Favre shined in games where he faced adversity off the field. It’s another opportunity to showcase his great QB abilities while helping the Vikings get back on the winning track.

His body seems to be failing him this season. It’s not the end for Favre. If he wakes up healthy on Sunday morning, he’s going to start his 287 consecutive game against the Cowboys. It should be a solid match up. Both teams are in a desperate need for a win. Adrian Peterson will be relied on now more than before because of Favre’s elbow. The Vikings are playing at home, which is going to help against Dallas. The Minnesota secondary is going to be the key to victory, if they can stop Miles Austin and Tony Romo from hooking up on a few deep balls, Minnesota should come away with a victory. Teams now know Dallas struggles running the ball, which means Romo has to throw 40 times a game to have a chance to win. The Vikings, with Favre will begin to right their ship before a tough portion of their schedule.
