Eastern Conference Returning Competitive Balance to NBA

It’s shaping up to be a great battle in the NBA’s Eastern Conference. The New York Knicks seven second offense seems to be in full swing with Raymond Felton and Amare Stoudemire looking like the classic Stoudemire-Steve Nash connection from the Phoenix Suns. Coach Mike D’Antoni has a solid lineup that he needs to run his fast-paced scoring offense. The Miami Heat seem to be past their early struggles as LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh learn to play together. It’s the old stalwarts of the Eastern Conference that lead the way.

The Boston Celtics have a 10 game winning streak. The bench is helping out with the original Big Three as Glen Davis and others take a bigger role for the Celtics. Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen are still the most important parts of the Celtics team. They humiliated the Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday night, 93-62. KG sat out the entire four quarter because the Bobcats never came close. The team is fighting injuries, as Shaquille O’Neal is out with a sore calf. Jermaine O’Neal is out with a sore left knee. Davis helped the team win its championship in 2008, and he’s becoming more important in the offense.

The NBA needs a solid Eastern Conference. The Chicago Bulls are also one of the top teams. The Knicks are surprising a lot of other teams. The Heat will continue to figure it out. The Orlando Magic are still a deep and solid team. It’s good to see the teams excel. For a long time, the Eastern Conference was inferior to the teams in the Western Conference. The competitive balance has returned to the NBA. It’s great to see, let’s just hope they can get together on a new collective bargaining agreement and help grow the entire league.
