Howard Must Do More to Escape 0-2 Hole:

The Boston Celtics look impressive beating the Orlando
Magic in Amway Arena. It was game one of the Eastern Conference Finals and
the Celtics seem to be returning to the team that won the championship in
2008. Magic center Dwight Howard struggled against the Celtics and if he
doesn't perform, then they're in real trouble for the rest of the series.
Paul Pierce scored 22 points and added nine rebounds. He really seems
returning to form now that LeBron James isn't guarding him this series. He
really didn't light up the stat sheet against Cleveland. Expect the opposite
against the Magic. Matt Barnes plays well, but he's not James.
Howard must show up and expect another great game on Tuesday night. The
Magic need Vince Carter to continue to perform. He scored 23 points in game
one. Expect more from the veteran shooting guard. Jameer Nelson added 20
points, but only had two assists. He needs to distribute the ball more. The
point guard must figure out ways to get players other than Howard and Carter
involved in the offense. Hedo Turkoglu made a great option last season. He
hit three pointers when the Magic needed it and they really miss that in the
playoffs. Turkoglu averaged 15.8 points per game last year. Mickael Pietrus
and the rest of the bench must have a greater impact.
The length of Kevin Garnett seems to the biggest problem for the Magic. He's
starting to go out and hit those mid-range jumpers. Howard doesn't want to
go out and guard Garnett out there. He wants to stay low in the block to
prevent buckets by rejections. Howard must play more defense and start
hitting shots from the field or the Magic are going to travel to Boston down
0-2 and most likely dead in the water. The TD Bank North Garden is one of
the hardest places to play, especially during playoff season.
