Cleveland Learning Tough Lesson Since James:

LeBron James is the most impactful player in the NBA. He
decided to play with his friends, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade in Miami for a
couple of seasons and the Cleveland Cavaliers are left to pick up the
pieces. They didn’t get anything for the departing James and now they’re on
the verge of becoming the worst team in NBA history. The Cavs tied the
longest losing streak in NBA history with their 23rd straight loss against
the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night. The team hasn’t won a game since a
December 18th overtime victory against the New York Knicks.
The Cavs only have eight wins this year. They been blown out a number of
times, along with losing close games. Antawn Jamison is the most likely Cavs
player to be moved at the trade deadline. He was added as a companion for
James last season. It’s not working out and the team is in disarray. The Cavs
led going into the fourth quarter, but Memphis came back behind Zach
Randolph. Randolph is a double-double machine, finishing the game with 29
points and 13 rebounds.
Owner Dan Gilbert ripped James for the way he announced his decision. He
then apologized. The problem is he didn’t plan on losing James. Cleveland
cannot recruit solid free agents to their town. It’s part of the reason why
James left. Gilbert and general manager Chris Grant now have to wait for the
season to end and hope the ping pong ball falls their way again. Cleveland
might be the most tortured sports town, but it doesn’t mean their coach
shouldn’t plan for the future. It’s a long process, but the Cavs should be
back among the Eastern Conference elite, hopefully they’ll build a team this
time instead of relying on player’s tremendous ability.
