Newton Spends Weekend Getting Heisman

There’s a lot of controversy around Cam Newton. His father
was found guilty of trying to extort money for his son signing with
Mississippi State. Newton is basking in the glow of his success season with
the Auburn Tigers. The Heisman Trophy will be awarded in New York this
weekend. Newton’s father will not attend the event. He’s been limited in the
access to Auburn athletics after the verdict from the NCAA was handed down.
Everybody expects it to be Newton. He led the SEC in rushing this past year.
Newton is expected to win the award.
LaMichael James, another Heisman finalist, is on record as saying Newton
deserves the award. So said Kellen Moore, the Boise State quarterback and
finalist. Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck was the other finalist invited to
the event in New York. Newton’s going to win the award. Many voters stated
that because he was not suspended by the NCAA, they’ll vote normally. Some
voters have stated they won’t vote for Newton because of the scandal.
Newton was the best player in college football this past season. His final
performance of this season will be in the BCS National Championship game
against James’ Oregon Ducks. It’s going to be a great game. Most fans are
satisfied with the match up, unless you attend TCU. Many Horned Frogs fans
think they belong in the game. False, they’ll get a chance once they get
into the Big East. Oregon and Auburn have been the two best teams in college
football. I can’t wait for the line to come out about his game, it’s going
to be hard to pick a winner.
