Buckeyes Still Among Nation's Elite

The Ohio State Buckeyes remain unbeaten this season.
They’re lead by a terrific college quarterback in Terrelle Pryor. They’re
ranked second in all the polls. They didn’t defeat tough opponents,
Marshall, Eastern Michigan and Miami (OH). Many of the experts don’t think
that they belong in the BCS National Championship talk because they haven’t
beaten quality opponents except for the victory over Illinois last weekend.
They’re finally doing it with some flair. They’re ranked eighth in total
offense in the nation with 506.8 yards per game. The Buckeyes are ranked
first in the Big Ten scoring at 49.3 points per game. Pryor is leading the
team all the important offensive categories. He scored six touchdowns
against EM in three different ways. It was the impressive performance that
BCS computers look for when deciding rankings. The 24-13 downing of against
Illinois might be detrimental in garnering style points for a higher
ranking. The defense is becoming an important part of why OSU is winning
games, with 13 takeaways in the first five games of the season.
The Buckeyes understand the Big Ten isn’t known for high scoring offenses.
The voters also take into account the recent team history in BCS games.
Pryor and the stylish offense can change the feelings of voters. They will
be in contention for a trip to the BCS Championship, they just have to take
care of business against the rest of the Big Ten. The Buckeyes are a
different team than in past seasons, now they have to go out and prove it.
