Bowl's Getting Better as New Year Approaches

The college bowl season seems longer and longer every year.
Each postseason, it seems that more and more sponsors show up and put on a
show with sub-par football teams. Most people don’t watch them. The
important bowls begin after Christmas Day. The intriguing ones start around
New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. It’s no different this season. The Rose
Bowl, between TCU and Wisconsin has the potential for an instant classic.
It’s the tough, physical Big Ten style of football against the speed and
flash of TCU. There’s a classic rivalry between two storied programs. The
Sun Bowl pits Miami (FL) against Notre Dame. It’s not a BCS contest, but the
ratings will be impressive whenever ND takes the field.
It’s going to be a great game. The Sugar Bowl, between Ohio State and
Arkansas should be another solid game. This one is happening with some
controversy. The NCAA suspended five Ohio State players for the first four
games of next season. Included is starting Buckeyes quarterback, Tyrelle
Pryor. Pryor has the option to go pro, but he’s not above the fourth round
pick right now. His draft stock will improve, but a strong Sugar Bowl should
help his draft stock.
The best contest will be for the BCS Title. It’s how it should be. There’s
no doubt which teams should have the right to play for the crown. Oregon and
Auburn have two lightning quick offenses that can score at will. These two
teams have been the best all season. Cam Newton is a truly great talent. The
Duck’s defense is going to have a tough time trying to stop him. The Tigers
must figure out a way to slow down the Ducks’ offense. It’s going to be one
of the greatest college football games in recent memory. It’s the best
weekend for college football.
