Americans Hold Destiny in their Hands:

Today stands to be one of the most important days in recent
memory for the U.S. Men's National Soccer Team. It's actually pretty simple
too. Win and they move on from group stage. They have to beat the Desert
Foxes from Algeria in order to play on.
The Yanks played a tremendous second half against Slovenia only to come out
with a draw, thanks in part to a disallowed goal late in the match. Landon
Donovan, Michael Bradley and the rest of the U.S. team must push forward and
attack against Algeria. The Algerians are in a similar position as the U.S.
They suffered a defeat at the hands of Slovenia in their opening match in
part to a goalkeeper gaffe by Faouzi Chaouchi. They went on to draw against
England in their second match, holding the Three Lions scoreless.
Algeria is capable of beating any one on any day. They're good, you don't
get to the World Cup by a fluke. It's a long process and the Desert Foxes
are ready against the Americans. Landon Donovan played the half of his
international career and must continue his flair for the dramatics on the
grandest stage. He really facilitates the attack for the men's team and he
has tremendous determination. He must distribute the ball to Jozy Altidore,
Clint Dempsey and the other player that will start up on the attack.
Who will Bob Bradley place up front to play with Altidore? Robbie Findlay is
going to miss the match because of yellow cards. Edson Buddle is having a
tremendous year in the MLS, but hasn't had the opportunity at the World Cup
to show his scoring touch. Herculez Gomez seemed to provide an important
spark off the bench in the previous match. The Americans are favored to win
to advance. They can advance with a draw and some help from the
Slovenia/England game to advance. It would be a bad choice to rely on the
other game to advance. They need to attack in order to win and advance.
