Paterno Leaves Lasting Legacy
Paul Bryant passed away only four weeks after his 232rd coaching victory. Former Penn State head coach Joe Paterno lasted eight weeks after his 409 victory. Paterno passed away on Sunday morning, at age 85. His legacy won't be tainted by the last 12 weeks, but the entire 46 head coaching career with one university. Penn State was always known as doing things the right way, winning two national championships in five years during the 1980s. Paterno was exonerated by the prosecutors in the Jerry Sandusky case. Three Crimson Tide Members Going Pro
The Alabama Crimson Tide will already have a tough time defending its national championship, losing three important cogs to the NFL Draft will make it even harder. Trent Richardson, Dre Kirkpartick and Dont'a Hightower will all enter the 2012 NFL Draft. All three are underclassmen. Kirkpatrick and Richardson are potential top 10 draft picks. Hightower could possibly go in the first round too. Richardson, the Doak Walker Award winner, the nation's top runner, will probably have the most successful professional career. Kirkpatrick will be a top defensive back chosen and given the increased emphasis on passing, valuable defensive backs will be highly coveted. Alabama head coach Nick Saban should do a good job replacing these three players. It's tough to repeat as BCS National championship, but the Crimson Tide should Read More..
Alabama Dominates In BCS Rematch
Congrats to Nick Saban and the University of Alabama. THey've won their second BCS National Championship in three seasons. The Crimson Tide downed Louisiana State, 21-0, in the Superdome. LSU's offense was anemic, only mustering 92 yards. They didn't get the ball into Alabama territory until the second to last possession of the game. It was a dull game to watch. Jeremy Shelley kicked seven field goals, five were good. Running back Trent Richardson finally scored a touchdown against the LSU defense, a 34-yard run with 4:36 remaining to play. The extra point was missed. The rematch was completely dominated by the Crimson Tide. They dominated the game, as the Tigers couldn't do anything on offense. Jordan Jefferson looked lost on a lot of plays. He tried to throw inside the pocket, but it didn't work. Proponents of a BCS playoff system have to be happy about the outcome. There were reports that some form of a playoff was discussed, Read More..
